AHL's Lowell Lock Monsters Assign Sutter

Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The American Hockey League's Lowell (Mass.) Lock Monsters have assigned right winger Shaun Sutter to the Fresno Falcons. Fresno acquired the ECHL rights to Sutter during the off-season in exchange for goaltender Will Hamele, completing a three-way trade involving the Augusta Lynx and Pee Dee Pride that was first consummated last January.

Sutter is a second generation member of one of professional hockey's most famous families. Five of his uncles played in the National Hockey League, including Calgary Flames Head Coach Darryl Sutter, as did his father, Brian, who is the head coach of the Chicago Blackhawks.

The fourth-year pro split time between the AHL and ECHL his first two years before spending all of last season with the Pride, for whom he recorded 44 points (17g-27a) and 55 penalty minutes in 69 games played. Sutter will not arrive in Fresno in time to play in either of the Falcons' two pre-season games tonight and tomorrow against the Bakersfield Condors.

Fresno made one other roster move today, releasing right winger Justin Wise.

The Falcons officially begin the 2004-05 ECHL season on Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at Save Mart Center against the Las Vegas Wranglers. Single-game tickets for all 36 regular season home games at Save Mart Center are now on sale for as low as $8 per seat. Tickets may be purchased directly at Save Mart Center's box office and all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 485-TIXS (8497) or online at www.ticketmaster.com.
