Chiefs Agree With Former Hobey Baker Finalist

Johnstown, PA- Johnstown Chiefs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Toby O'Brien announced today, that the team has agreed to terms with rookie forward Joe Tallari.

"Joe is a player that will make an immediate impact here. He was one of college hockey's best players over the last couple of seasons," said O'Brien.

Tallari, 24, spent the last four years at Niagara University where he was the school's fifth leading all-time scorer. In 38 games last season, the 6'0, 180 LBS native of Thunder Bay, Ontario scored 16 goals and 33 points in 38 games.

In his four seasons at Niagara, he scored 60 goals and had 125 points, good for second on the College Hockey America all-time points list. In the 2002-03 season, he became the first player in CHA history to be named one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, given each season to collegiate hockey's top player. He was also the College Hockey America Conference Player of the Year during 2002-03.

In September, Tallari attended the New York Rangers rookie camp and AHL training camp with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
