AKRON, OH - Frank Herrmann allowed just a solo home run and Reid Santos slammed the door with five strikeouts in two innings for the save as the Aeros beat the SeaWolves 4-1 before 7,149 fans at Canal Park Thursday night. Akron improved to 67-45, while Erie fell to 48-65.
Wilkin Ramirez put the SeaWolves on the board first with a two-out solo home run in the first inning, but the Aeros took the lead for good in the bottom of the second when the first three hitters reached base. Stephen Head singled to lead off and Erie starter Luke French then hit Matt Whitney with a pitch. Ryan Goleski followed with an RBI single to center to score Head, but the ball scooted past Casper Wells and allowed Whitney to score as well while also advancing Goleski all the way to third. Brandon Pinckney followed with an RBI groundout to put Akron ahead 3-1.
The Aeros added the final run in the game when Josh Rodriguez led off the fifth with a double into the left-field corner, and Wyatt Toregas drove him in with a two-out single to make it 4-1.
