Aerodynamics.

. More is less. Extra innings continued to be a bad omen for the Aeros as they fell to Trenton 4-3 in 10 innings Monday. Both teams scored in the first inning as Akron took the early lead on an RBI single by designated hitter Jerad Head that scored shortstop Cristo Arnal from second. Trenton responded with a leadoff home run by Justin Christian to tie the game. Lance Berkman, on rehab appearance with the Thunder, provided Trenton with a 2-1 lead when he scored on a groundout. Trenton increased their lead when Rene Rivera hit a solo home run to make it 3-1. The Aeros come back started in the eighth when center fielder Jordan Henry tripled to right field and scored on a ground out by Arnal. First baseman Beau Mills led off the ninth, also with an extra base hit, as he doubled to center field. He would come home on an RBI single by catcher Juan Apodaca to send the game into extra frames. The Thunder made short work of the situation from there as Daniel Brewer led off with a single, moved to second on sacrifice bunt, and home for the game winning run on consecutive singles. Right-handed reliever Omar Aguilar took the loss to fall to 2-6 as he gave up the three hits and one run in the 10th. Ryan Pope rebounded from blowing the save and earned the win and improved to 4-6.

. Extra inning woes. The Aeros are 1-9 in extra inning games this year, putting them at the bottom of the Eastern League.

. Hammering Henry. Center fielder Jordan Henry was a home run short of the cycle Monday as he hit a single, double and triple in his five plate appearances. It was the Houston native's fifth three-hit game with the Aeros and 23rd multi-hit game of the season.

. Beau knows. First baseman Beau Mills is currently tied with New Hampshire's Adeiny Hechavarria for the third-best batting average in the past week. The Visalia, Calif. native is hitting .417 (10-24) over that stretch with three doubles, three RBI, and four runs scored. Mills is also fifth in the Eastern league with an on-base percentage of .517 in the past week.

. Hit me again. and again. Outfielder John Drennen has had multiple base hits in five out of his past six games. The San Diego, Calif. native has been on a tear in August with 12 multiple hit games.

. Playoff update. The Aeros remain 3.5 games behind Harrisburg as the Senators lost to New Hampshire 8-7. Bowie improved its post season chances with a 2-0 win against Altoona. The Baysox are now three games in front of Akron. The Aeros now have an elimination number of five with seven games remaining in the season.

. Player of the week. Left-handed pitcher Matt Packer is the winner of this week's Akron Aeros Player of the Week award. Packer (1-2, 3.60 ERA) earned his first win with the Aeros in Saturday's 9-0 triumph over the Erie SeaWolves. The Germantown, Tenn. native celebrated his 23rd birthday in a big way as he gave up no runs on six hits and struck out eight batters over six innings of work. He is scheduled to start in the last game of the current series against Trenton.
