Admirals Shutdown Griffins

Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - Marek Mazanec stopped all 30 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season as the Admirals topped the Grand Rapids Griffins 3-0 Tuesday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Mazanec has now won three games in a row, allowing three total goals in those contests, to improve his record to 9-6-1 on the season.
The win was the fifth consecutive for Milwaukee, their second streak of at least five wins in a row this year.
Ads rookie forward Max Gortz continued his hot play, tallying a goal and adding two assists for his second consecutive three-point game. He now owns a seven-game scoring streak, accumulating 12 points in that time.
After a scoreless first period, it was Gortz who gave the Admirals the lead as he found the back of the net for the second consecutive night. Just 1:43 into the second and the Admirals on the power-play Gortz took a feed from Kevin Fiala and fired a missile past Grand Rapids goalie Jared Coreau.
Milwaukee's power-play stayed hot with another tally, this one by Fiala with 4:34 left in the middle frame. Fiala collected a long rebound of a Frederick Gaudreau shot and put a missile of his own over the shoulder of Coreau.
From there it was Mazanec and the Admirals defense who did the work, keeping the Griffins off the board for the first time since October 17. Milwaukee's penalty-kill was 4-for-4 on the night, including two of them in the third period while the Griffins were on the prowl.
Fiala finished the night with a goal and an assist, while Gaudreau added a pair of assists.
The Ads will look for the home-and-home sweep when they travel to Grand Rapids on Thursday night for a 5 pm CT tilt. The Admirals return home to the BMOHBC on Saturday night when they play host to the Lake Erie Monsters.
