Syracuse Crunch News Release

HERSHEY, Pa. - Tye McGinn notched his seventh goal in as many games as the Syracuse Crunch downed the Hershey Bears, 3-1, tonight at the Giant Center.

McGinn lead the Crunch with another two-goal night, while David Broll added his first of the season and first with the Crunch.

The victory kicks-off a four-game week for Syracuse and pushes the team to 13-12-4-1 on the season. The Crunch also have a 2-0-1-0 lead in the six-game series with the Bears, who are now 16-10-1-5.

Crunch goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy earned his fifth win of the season, turning aside 29-of-30 shots. Dan Ellis registered the loss, allowing three goals on 17 shots. Syracuse was unable to convert on four power-play opportunities. The penalty kill unit stopped 6-of-7 man-advantages.

After a scoreless first period, the Crunch finally solved Ellis at the 9:15 mark of the middle stanza. Slater Koekkoek let go from the right point, but his shot was caught up in traffic. Jeff Tambellini gained control of the puck and pushed it out for McGinn to net bar-down from the high slot for his 10th of the season.

With Philippe Paradis in the box serving a high-sticking double minor, the Bears knotted the score. Vasilevskiy stopped Travis Boyd's slapshot from the point and continued on to make another save on Paul Carey's rebound attempt. Despite the goaltender's efforts, the Crunch were unable to clear the crease and gave Carter Camper the opportunity to chip one over Vasilevskiy's outstretched leg to even the score with 2:15 remaining.

Syracuse was determined to take a lead into the intermission and with just 22 seconds remaining in the frame, Broll lit the lamp. He fired a shot from the left corner that banked off the netminder and across the goal line. Cameron Darcy was credited with the assist on the eventual game-winner.

The Crunch extended their lead to two 3:58 into the third period. Joey Mormina started the play, passing along to blue line to Daniel Walcott. His shot from the top of the right circle missed wide and ricocheted off the end boards. McGinn picked up the rebound at the goal post and buried it for his second of the night.

Syracuse maintained their lead through the end of the third to down Hershey, 3-1. The team travels to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to face the Penguins on Thursday at 5:05 p.m.
