
Bears Return Dekanich to Stingrays

HERSHEY, Pa. - The Hershey Bears announced today that goaltender Mark Dekanich has been returned on loan to the ECHL's South Carolina Stingrays. The announcement was made by Bears president/general manager Doug Yingst.
Dekanich, 29, returns to South Carolina after appearing in one game with the Bears, an 18-save performance against the Binghamton Senators on Sunday. In 12 games with the Stingrays, he has posted a record of 6-4-1 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.07 and save percentage of .921.
Dekanich spent the last two seasons playing for Zagreb Medvescak of the KHL. His last AHL season prior to heading overseas was spent with the St. John's IceCaps, with which he went 11-9-6 with three shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.98 and save percentage of .895.
The 6-2, 192-pound native of North Vancouver, British Columbia represented the Western Conference at the 2011 AHL All-Star Classic held in Hershey. With Milwaukee, Springfield and St. John's, Dekanich has a career record of 82-54-13 with 11 shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.38 and save percentage of .915 in 162 regular-season games.
Prior to turning pro, Dekanich played four years of college hockey at Colgate University, amassing a record of 52-45-16 over 118 games. He was originally selected by the Nashville Predators in the fifth round (146th overall) of the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.
