Portland Pirates News Release

Hartford, CT - The Portland Pirates (16-12-1-0) saw their six-game winning streak come to an end, dropping a 5-2 decision with the Hartford Wolf Pack (14-16-2-0) on Tuesday Night at the XL Center. The win was Hartford's second in a row and third in their last four games.

The Wolf Pack charged out to a 4-0 lead before the Pirates could get on the board.

Hartford used a stroke of bad luck for Rob Flick to grab their first goal. Flick fumbled the puck away in the neutral zone along the boards. It was recovered by Hartford's Chris McCarthy, who zipped down the left wing and sent a centering pass to Tyler Brown, who tipped it past Portland goalie Sam Brittain for his first goal of the season at 10:20 to make it 1-0.

The Pack were just getting warmed up. Just 2:11 later, Ryan Graves sent a shot pass from the left point off the end boards and high in the air, finally settling at the bottom of the right circle for Ryan Bourque, who snapped in his sixth goal of the season. Tommy Hughes also grabbed a helper on the play.
