Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - The Milwaukee Admirals players and front office are proud to announce their effort to change the face of hockey by growing mustaches during the month of November to help raise money for the American Cancer Society in support of prostate cancer research and awareness.
Throughout the course of the month Admirals President Jon Greenberg and players Victor Bartley, Taylor Beck, Brodie Dupont, Ryan Ellis, Ryan Flynn, Jeff Foss, Jeremy Smith, Zack Stortini, and Scott Valentine will all have the growth of their mustaches documented four to five times per week and the results will be posted at milwaukeeadmirals.com . At the end of the month the fans will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite mustache and for each vote that is cast the Admirals will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society.
"Rollie Fingers may have one of the most legendary mustaches in sports history, but he'll have nothing on the motley group of Admirals as we try to raise money for the American Cancer Society," said Greenberg.
In addition, for each new "Like" on the team's Facebook page and each new follower on the team's Twitter Site during November, the Ads will donate another $1 to ACS. On November 1st the Admirals had 13,439 fans and 4,254 followers on Twitter. The team also encourages fans to upload pictures of their mustaches in Admirals gear to the team's Facebook page and for each new picture the Ads will donate a $1 to the American Cancer Society.
Plus, at all games during the month of November the Admirals will have the "Stache Section," which will be located in section 221. Tickets to sit in the Stache are just $14, which is $2 off the face value of the seat, plus the team will donate $2 from each Stache ticket to the American Cancer Society. In addition, Stache sitters will receive an autographed picture of their favorite mustachioed Admiral at the end of the month.
The American Cancer Society will have a table on the concourse at all November home games to disseminate information regarding prostate and other forms of cancer.
Then on November 29th the Admirals will hold a salute to the mustache and crown Milwaukee's Best Statche. Further, in conjunction with doctors from Aurora Health Care, the Admirals will provide free prostate screening checks on the concourse from 6:00 to 7:00 pm on the 29th.
Fans can purchase tickets for Friday, or any Admirals game, by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or logging on to milwaukeeadmirals.com.
