CLEVELAND --- Jon DiSalvatore, Warren Peters and Jeff Taffe each notched a goal and an assist as the Houston Aeros defeated the Lake Erie Monsters 5-3 on Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena.

The win was the fourth in five games for the Aeros, extended the team's point streak to seven games (5-0-0-2) and allowed Houston to take over the top spot in the American Hockey League with 17 points.

The Aeros took a 3-1 lead into the third period on goals by DiSalvatore, Jed Ortmeyer and Peters. David McIntyre's tally three minutes into the third stood as the eventual game-winner after the Monsters rallied for a pair of goals in the final 20 minutes. Taffe's goal with 7:39 left in the game provided enough of a cushion, even after the Monsters bagged a power play goal off the stick of David van der Gulik with under four minutes remaining. Hugh Jessiman had the other Lake Erie goals.

Matt Hackett made 25 saves in goal for the Aeros, who visit Hamilton for a rematch of the 2011 Western Conference finals Friday at 6:30 p.m. The Aeros return to Toyota Center next Sunday against Toronto at 5:05 p.m.
