Aeros Sign Elgn Reid to PTO

HOUSTON --- Houston Aeros General Manager Jim Mill today announced that the team has signed defenseman Elgin Reid to a professional tryout contract (PTO).

Reid, 24 (2/23/87), joins the Aeros from the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL) where he played in five games, collecting four assists (0-4=4), six penalty minutes (PIM) and a plus-5 rating.

The 6-foot-0, 195-pound defender Milton is in his fifth season as a professional and played the past two seasons with the Florida Everblades (ECHL). Last season, Reid posted 24 points (9-15$) along with 63 PIM in 46 games. He served as an alternate captain for the Everblades last season.

Reid played nine AHL games with the Albany River Rats during the 2009-10 season. Before turning pro, he played five seasons of junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League.

The Aeros lead the Western Conference with 15 points as they head into a two-game road trip starting Thursday night. The Aeros visit the Lake Erie Monsters on Thursday at 6 p.m. (CST) and then travel to Hamilton for a Friday game against the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. (CST). The team returns home on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. against the Toronto Marlies at Toyota Center.
