Admirals Capture Central Division Title
April 10, 2016 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI - An Admirals 4-2 win over the Charlotte Checkers this afternoon coupled with a loss by the Lake Erie Monsters to the Rochester Americans gives Milwaukee the central division title.
The Admirals, who are currently on a season-high 12-game point streak, have 99 points on a 47-21-3-2 record and will have home ice advantage in at least the first two rounds of the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs. The Ads will have a chance at the Western Conference crown, but they currently trail the Ontario Reign by .011 percentage points for that position with three games to go in the regular season for Milwaukee and two for the Reign.
This is the fifth division crown for Milwaukee since they joined the American Hockey League in 2001 and their first since the 2010-11 season. They also won division titles in 2003-04, 2005-06 and 2008-09. If the Ads earn a point in one of their final three games they will break the 100-point barrier for the sixth time in the AHL. They also accomplished that feat in 2003-04, 2004-05, 2005-06, 2008-09, and 2010-11.
The playoffs will start the week of April 18, but specific dates, times, and opponents will be announced at a later date.
While individual game tickets for the playoffs are not on sale yet, fans can purchase playoff packages, which allow for the same seat to all potential post-season contests, for as little as $225. For more information on playoff packages fans can click here.
The Admirals begin the final week of the regular season when they host the Chicago Wolves on Tuesday night at 7 pm in Amtrak Rivalry Action at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Tickets for any Ads game can be purchased by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000. Groups of ten or more can receive great discounts over single game prices. Those interested in booking a group can call the Admirals office at (414) 227-0550.
