Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, Va. - For the second time this month, the Norfolk Admirals are proud to announce that "The Voice of the Admirals" Pete Michaud has been honored for his work in Hampton Roads. Michaud will receive the Abe Goldblatt Memorial Award for outstanding coverage of local sports by a media person at the Norfolk Sports Club luncheon on March 10.
Michaud was honored earlier this month by the Chesapeake Athletic Club as the Hampton Roads Outstanding Sports Broadcaster for 2009.
Michaud has brought 18 seasons of experience with the Admirals to the airwaves in 2009-10. He has served as "The Voice of the Admirals" for the past 11 years.
A native of Chesapeake, Virginia, Michaud has been on the air in various capacities in Hampton Roads since 1979. In addition to his hockey experience, Michaud has called minor league baseball games in Illinois, Florida and Iowa, and Division I College Basketball at Old Dominion University. He has also worked in television at WAVY 10 and WVEC 13.
Michaud has also called Norfolk Tides baseball games for the past three years.
The Admirals continue their seven-game road trip tonight against the Springfield Falcons. The puck drops at 7:30 p.m. All games are broadcast on STAR 1310-AM, star1310.com and ahllive.com.
