PEORIA, Ill. (January 29, 2009) - Fan favorite, and Kelly Cup champion center, Trevor Baker will become the newest member of the Peoria Rivermen Hall of Fame on Saturday. His induction will take place during the first intermission of the Rivermen game with the Houston Aeros.

A captain and agitator, Baker racked up 1,099 penalty minutes in his six seasons with the Rivermen which is second most in Rivermen history. Not just a one-dimensional player, he also accounted for 199 points (82 goals, 117 assists) in 297 games with the ECHL Rivermen between 1999 and 2005. He scored the game-winning goal in double-overtime of Game 5 during the 2000 Kelly Cup Finals to give the Rivermen a 3-2 series lead en route to the championship.

Baker will be on hand Saturday when he will become the 32nd member of the Rivermen HOF, which consists of two wings - a Players/Coaches wing and a Builders wing. He will be the 23rd player, along with four coaches and five members of the Builders wing; which consists of those who have been honored for their contributions to the greater good and/or the administration of professional/amateur hockey in Central Illinois.

Qualifications for player/coach/builder induction are as follows: players must have completed their Rivermen career at least three full seasons before nomination but no more than 10. Skaters must have competed in at least 80 games while goaltenders must have appeared in at least 50. Additional criteria for builder induction are based on contributions to the game, years of service and other distinguishing factors.

Baker will also be in Peoria on Mar. 6 to take part in the Rivermen Legends game that will feature fellow Hall of Famer's Denis Cyr, Joe Rybar and Don Granato, along with other former Rivermen greats.
