Portland Pirates News Release

Portland, Maine - Jhonas Enroth was perfect on all five attempts in the shootout and Mark Mancari supplied the only goal to lift the Portland Pirates to a 3-2 win over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in an American Hockey League game played tonight in front of 3,313 at the Cumberland County Civic Center.

Mancari forced overtime scoring with one second remaining in regulation with the Pirates enjoying a six-on-three man-power advantage. Brad Larsen netted the other goal for Portland, who posted their fourth consecutive shootout victory to improve to 23-16-5-2 on the season and move two points up on Bridgeport in the race for fifth in the Atlantic Division. Greg Moore and Mark Flood scored of the Sound Tigers, who dropped to 22-20-2-5. All the first period scoring came in a span of 90 seconds. Moore opened the scoring with a shorthanded goal 12 minutes into the game only to see Larsen, with his 200th career AHL point, even the count with a power-play score before the penalty expired. Just 64 seconds into the second period Tyler Ennis was awarded a penalty shot but he was stopped by Sound Tigers goalie Scott Munroe to keep things even at one heading into the third. Flood struck on the power play with just under four minutes left in regulation to give the Sound Tigers the lead before Mancari's last-second heroics. The penalty shot by Ennis was the Pirates first since Felix Schutz was successful against the Worcester Sharks on February 13, 2009. The Pirates out shot the Sound Tigers 46-25 in game as Enroth posted the victory. The second year goaltender has now stopped 21 of the last 23 shootout attempts he faced. The Allied Home Mortgage Three Stars of the game were 1. Munroe; 2. Mancari and 3. Ennis.
