GLENS FALLS, NY - Johan Backlund made 28 saves for his 14th win of the season as the Adirondack Phantoms defeated the Binghamton Senators 2-1 Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center.

Binghamton had a good start to the game, as their energy on the fore-check was giving the Phantoms problems clearing the zone. However, Adirondack struck first as Rob Bellamy sped down the left wing and blasted a shot off the left pad of goaltender Andy Chiodo and the rebound kicked right into the slot for Jonathon Kalinski to hammer home at 13:19.

The Senators responded in the second period as they scored a power play goal at 4:28. Ryan Keller was credited with his 21st goal of the season as Binghamton's leading scorer redirected a blocked shot into the net on a bizarre bounce. That was the only puck that would elude Phantoms starter Johan Backlund on the night, as the Swedish stopper continued his strong run of form. Adirondack retook the lead in the final minute of the period when David Laliberte finished off a three-on-two rush with Jon Matsumoto and Patrick Maroon at 19:22 for a 2-1 lead; it was Laliberte's ninth goal of the year as he scored for the second straight game.

Binghamton continued to push to equalize in the third period, out-shooting the Phantoms 11-5 over the final frame, but Backlund was outstanding and for the second straight game, held a third period lead for the team against a surging Senators squad.

Johan Backlund finished the game with 28 saves on 29 shots for his 14th win of the season as Adirondack improved to 22-20-2-1 on the year. Andy Chiodo put in a solid effort in goal for Binghamton, making 17 saves on 19 shots, but he took the loss as the Senators dropped to 19-20-3-1. The B-Sens out-shot the Phantoms 29-19 in the game and went 1-for-6 on the power play; Adirondack was 0-for-4 with the man-advantage.

The Phantoms are home again on Saturday, January 30th as they host the Norfolk Admirals for a 7:00 pm face off at the Civic Center. Saturday is Dollar Dog Night, where hot dogs at the concession stand are just one dollar all night long, there will be a hot dog eating contest during an intermission and the team will be keeping track of how many hot dogs the fans can consume during the game.
