Milwaukee Admirals News Release
Milwaukee, WI-Milwaukee Admirals goaltender Anders Lindback was stellar in net, making 29 saves and allowing just two goals, but he was bested for former Admiral netminder Drew MacIntyre, who surrendered only one tally as the Chicago Wolves beat the Ads 2-1 Friday night in the Amtrak Rivalry at the Bradley Center.
Neither of the teams were able to find the back of the net in the first period. The Wolves outshot Milwaukee 16-9 in the first, thanks in large part to a 15-3 advantage during the first ten minutes. Both teams were 0-for-2 on the power-play.
Chicago finally broke the scoreless tie as former Admiral Mark Matheson converted his fifth goal of the season. Wolves forward Fredrik Pettersson drove into the Milwaukee zone and dropped a pass to Andre Deveaux on the right dot. Deveaux did the same, leaving the puck for Matheson at the top of the circle and he fired a wrister that rang off the right post and into the net.
Tim Miller scored what would become the game-winner with a shorthanded tally at 3:23 of the third period. With Milwaukee on the power-play the Wolves managed to ice the puck and Lindback moved behind his net to play it. However, Miller applied pressure and Lindback lost control of the puck and Miller had an easy tap-in.
The Admirals got on the board with just 1:43 left in the game when Mark Van Guilder redirected a pass from Aaron Johnson past MacIntyre. Roman Josi slid the puck to Johnson, who was stationed near the left circle, and he found the tape of Van Guilder directly in front of the Chicago net.
Lindback was pulled in favor of an extra attacker for the final 70 seconds of the game, but the Ads weren't able to crack MacIntyre again and dropped their second consecutive home game.
The Admirals are right back at it on Saturday night as they travel to Rockford for a 7:00 pm match-up with the IceHogs. Milwaukee's next home game is on Saturday, March 5 at 7:30 pm against the Manitoba Moose. Fans can purchase tickets by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or logging on to milwaukeeadmirals.com.
