LOOKING AHEAD:
The tight AHL West Division could see some movement this weekend as all eight teams will battle a divisional opponent both tonight and Saturday night... Chicago enters the weekend two points out of a postseason spot but will take on the division's top two teams, visiting Milwaukee tonight and visiting Peoria on Saturday... The Wolves are 4-1-0-0 in their last five contests but show a 16-17-1-2 mark against divisional foes this season... Darren Haydar (20-33-53) and Jason Krog (13-40-53) are tied for the club scoring lead, and Krog comes in with a four-game scoring streak (2-3-5)... First-place Milwaukee (75 points), which has opened a four-point lead on Peoria (71) and Houston (71), is 9-2-0-1 since Jan. 28... Admirals rookie defenseman Roman Josi had a 13-game scoring streak snapped on Tuesday but started a new one with two assists on Wednesday at Oklahoma City... Elsewhere tonight, fourth-place Texas (70) visits Houston with the teams separated by just one point, before the Stars travel to San Antonio (68) on Saturday and host Oklahoma City (67) on Sunday... Houston is 8-1-0-0 against Texas this season, and Jon DiSalvatore has racked up 12 points (5-7-12) in the nine contests... San Antonio, just one point up on OKC for a playoff spot, concludes a nine-game road trip against the Barons tonight... Viktor Tikhonov shows 3-3-6 in his last seven outings for the Rampage, who are just 10-13-1-0 in their last 24 contests overall.
After enjoying tonight off, fourth-place Toronto (66 points) hosts North Division co-leader Manitoba (68) for a pair of critical matinee games on Saturday and Sunday, the latter to be televised live on CBC in Canada and NHL Network in the United States... The Marlies have earned a point in five of their last six games (4-1-0-1) but are coming off a 3-2 shootout loss to Hershey on Wednesday... Rookie Nazem Kadri (13-30-33 in 34 GP) continues to average nearly a point per game for the Marlies, and fellow first-year pro Joe Colborne shows three goals in three games since joining Toronto... Kadri (3-3-6) and Ryan Hamilton (4-3-7) each have a point in three of their last four outings, while leading scorer Mike Zigomanis (10-30-40) boasts a three-game points streak (2-3-5)... Manitoba, which is in the early stages of a marathon 11-game road trip, visits Rochester on Friday before arriving in Toronto... The Moose dropped a pair of home-ice tilts to the Marlies on Feb. 15 and 16 but are still 3-2-0-0 in the season series... Sergei Shirokov has a team-high 42 points (17-25-42) for the Moose, who have scored one goal or fewer in six of their last nine games.
Norfolk, which has managed two goals during a three-game winless skid (0-2-0-1), looks to get back on track tonight when Charlotte visits the Scope... The Admirals have fallen to fifth in the East Division - two points back of Binghamton - but are still five points up on Worcester for a crossover postseason spot... Norfolk has yet to beat the Checkers on home ice this year, having dropped all five prior meetings, four of them by a one-goal margin... Admirals forward Chris Durno claims a team-high nine points (3-6-9) and plus-8 rating in the season series... Blair Jones, who ranks second on Norfolk with 46 points (15-31-46) in 43 games, is without a point in three straight contests for just the second time all season... Charlotte brings a four-game points streak (3-0-0-1) into the weekend and is just three points back of Hershey for second place in the East... Chris Terry has a goal in four straight games (5-1-6) for the Checkers, while Drayson Bowman has scored in his past three contests (3-1-4)... Defenseman Bryan Rodney shows six points (1-5-6) in his last three outings.
