
Bulldogs Power Past Phantoms 4-1

Montreal, PQ - The Hamilton Bulldogs defeated the Adirondack Phantoms 4-1 in front of 14,809 fans at Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec on Friday night. Nigel Dawes scored a goal in his first game with Hamilton while Aaron Palushaj tallied two goals in the win for the âDogs.
The Bulldogs opened the game's scoring at 7:01 of the first period. Andreas Engqvist carried the puck towards the net before sending a pass back to Dawes, who was trailing behind. Dawes blasted a shot that squeaked through the pads of Adirondack starting goaltender Johan Backlund.
The Phantoms tied the game 1-1 at 5:01 of the second stanza. Danny Syvret received the puck from Eric Wellwood while positioned at the left point. Syvret released a shot that beat Hamilton starting goaltender Curtis Sanford over the glove.
The âDogs regained their lead at 9:30 of the middle frame. Andrew Conboy sent the puck to J.T. Wyman, who cut into the high slot in front of the Phantoms net. Wyman rifled a shot that traveled through traffic and past Backlund.
Aaron Palushaj increased Hamilton's lead to 3-1 at 5:45 of the final frame while on the power play. Dustin Boyd received the puck from Olivier Fortier before sending a pass to Palushaj, who was stationed in the high slot. Palushaj snapped a shot past Backlund and into the top of the net. Palushaj added an empty net goal at 19:30 to seal the victory for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs will travel to Syracuse to battle the Crunch in a 7:30 p.m. game tomorrow night before returning to Hamilton for a 4:00 p.m. game on Sunday, February 27th against the Grand Rapids Griffins. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
