
Adam Loewen Goes 3-for-4 with Game Winning Homer

Portland, ME - Adam Loewen broke a 3-3 tie with an eighth inning home run as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Portland Sea Dogs 5-3 on Monday night at Hadlock Field
In the top of the eighth inning, Eric Thames drew a lead off walk and Loewen (3-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI) hit his 10th home run of the season into the U.S. Cellular Pavillion in right field off losing pitcher Ryne Miller (2-6) to propel New Hampshire to its 50th win of the season.
Zach Stewart improved to 7-2, working seven innings, allowing eight hits and three runs (two earned). He walked two and struck out four. Tim Collins worked two scoreless innings in relief to earn his eighth save.
The Fisher Cats (50-34) took an early lead with a run in the top of the second inning. Loewen singled, David Cooper (3-for-4, HR, 2B, 2 RBI) doubled off the Maine Monster in left field, moving Loewen to third, and Jonathan Jaspe grounded out scoring Loewen for a 1-0 lead.
Portland (41-41) tied the game in the bottom of the second inning as designated hitter Luis Exposito led with a solo home run over the center field fence to make it 1-1. Chih-Hsien Chiang doubled and scored on a single by Matt Sheely to put the Sea Dogs up 2-1.
New Hampshire moved back in front in the top of the fourth inning after two were out. Loewen doubled and Cooper followed with a home run off Portland starter Kyle Weiland, his 12th, to put the Fisher Cats up 3-2.
The Sea Dogs came back to tie the game on an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning against Zach Stewart. Exposito singled to start the inning. Yamaico Navarro then grounded to third, beating the throw and Exposito moved to third when Bowman's throw got away at first. He scored on a sacrifice fly by Chiang.
The Fisher Cats continue the four-game series against the Portland Sea Dogs at Hadlock Field on Tuesday night with a 7:00pm game. Right-hander B. J. LaMura (1-3, 3.86) is scheduled to start for the Fisher Cats against Portland right-hander Casey Kelly (1-3, 5.05). Fisher Cats Pre-Game begins at 6:45pm on the WGIR Fisher Cats Radio Network with Mike Murphy.
The Fisher Cats return home on Thursday, July 15 against the Binghamton Mets. An Atlas Fireworks Show follows the game. It will also be Faith and Family Night at Merchantsauto.com Stadium.
