Akron, OH - A seven-run seventh inning pushed Akron ahead of Trenton, and the Thunder fell in game one of the four game series by a score of 9-3 on Monday night at Canal Park. With the loss, Trenton falls to 51-32 on the season.

The Aeros wasted no time, as they reached RHP Andrew Brackman (0-3) for two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Lonnie Chisenhall belted a solo home run to right field and John Drennen hit an RBI single to score Matt McBride, and Akron went up 2-0.

Trenton got on the board in the fourth inning, as Luis Nunez tagged up from third base on a sacrifice fly by Brandon Laird, making it 2-1 in favor of Akron. After RHP Alex White was lifted for Bryan Price (3-2) to start the seventh inning, Trenton took the lead, scoring two runs, with the tying run coming in on an RBI double from Jack Rye.

Brackman and the Thunder started the bottom of the seventh inning with a 3-2 lead, but the right-hander gave up two straight extra base hits to lead off the inning and was lifted for Kevin Whelan. Both runs came into score, as Akron knocked in seven runs on six hits and took advantage of two errors by the Trenton defense to go ahead 9-3.

RHP Zach Putnam retired Trenton in order in the top of the ninth inning to end the game. Luis Nunez and Matt Cusick had two hits each in the loss.

Trenton and Akron will play the second game of their four game set on Tuesday evening starting at 7:05 PM. LHP Wilkin de la Rosa starts for Trenton, while Akron will give the ball to LHP Scott Barnes.
