Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Harrisburg Senators stretched their losing streak to six on Monday night, falling 5-1 to the Richmond Flying Squirrels at Metro Bank Park. The Sens managed seven hits, including three extra-base hits, but stranded eight runners in the loss.
David Mixon (9-4) earned the win for Richmond, throwing seven innings and allowing just one run. John Lannan, the opening-day starter for the Washington Nationals in 2009 and 2010 who was making his third start for the Sens this year, took the loss to fall to 1-2.
The Flying Squirrels (41-43) took the lead in the fourth inning with a solo home run by Brandon Belt, and then scored three more in the fifth to make it 4-0. Those three runs came on four hits, including a bunt single by Mixon.
The Senators (38-46) scored their lone run in the sixth inning, in which Michael Martinez ripped a one-out triple into centerfield. Tim Pahuta followed with a groundout to second base, which drove in Martinez and made it 4-1. Richmond completed the scoring with a single run in the eighth, on an RBI single by Conor Gillaspie.
Brad Coon had two singles for the Senators, and Martinez, Pahuta, Marvin Lowrance, Chris Marrero, and Edgardo Baez each added one hit.
