Abbotsford wins their fourth straight game

PROVIDENCE RI - The Abbotsford Heat flew out East to begin their five game road trip on Friday night, and were tenacious in their 5-2 win over the Providence Bruins to begin a three games in three night stretch here in the US North East.

Newcomers Andrew Carroll and Quentin Laing scored goals for the Heat on Friday night, with Laing getting a goal in his first game as a Heat player. Rookie Bryan Cameron put away his first AHL goal as well, while Greg Nemisz scored the game winner before Aldergrove's Matt Keith sealed the deal with an empty netter to round out the Heat scoring.

The Heat dominated from start to finish and outshot the Bruins 42-21 on the night, including 18-5 in the second period when Abbotsford erupted for three unanswered goals.

Leland Irving was solid between the pipes on Friday and picked up his AHL leading ninth win on the season as the Heat move their record to 10-6-0-1 on the season and open up a four point lead on the Hamilton Bulldogs in the North Division standings.

The Heat will move to Glens Falls, NY on Saturday night to take on the Adirondack Phantoms, the primary affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers.
