West Valley City, Utah - The ECHL leading Alaska Aces broke open a 3-1 third period with three goals on special teams to beat Utah 6-1 Monday afternoon before 7,707 fans.

The Grizzlies opened the game with a season-high 24 shots in the first period and totaled 51 shots in the game, but were again repeatedly denied by Alaska goaltender Mark Guggenberger who stopped 50 of 51 shots.

Utah took a 1-0 lead 17:05 into the first period as Kory Falite flipped in his 11th goal of the year from the far circle. Alaska came back with three goals in a 2:06 span late in the period to take a 3-1 lead to the first intermission.

The Grizzlies outshot Alaska 15-13 in the second period, but the game stayed 3-1 going to the third.

In the third period, Utah was awarded a five-on-three power-play as they tried to make the game 3-2. Alaska's Nick Mazzolini, however, blocked a shot and ended up with a breakaway and scored to make the contest 4-1. The Aces added two more power-play goals late to make it 6-1.

Utah returns home Wednesday to complete their seven-game home stand with a Wild $2 Wednesday with $2 Hot Dogs, Fries, Soft Drinks and Draft Beers. In addition, student tickets will be available for $5. Face-off with Alaska is at 7 p.m.
