
Stingrays Weekly: Dog Days of Winter and Pink in the Rink Highlight Weekend for Stingrays

The South Carolina Stingrays hosted the Florida Everblades and visited the Orlando Solar Bears this week for a week record of 3-0-1-0 and extended their point streak to six games (5-0-1-0).
The Stingrays opened the week with a 3-2 victory over the Everblades Wednesday night at the North Charleston Coliseum. Forward Hunter Bishop scored two goals including the game-winning tally and goaltender Jeff Jakaitis made 39 saves.
Over the weekend, the Stingrays traveled to the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida to wrap up the regular-season series against the Solar Bears. The Stingrays took a 3-0 lead early in the third period Friday evening, but the Solar Bears rallied to earn a 4-3 overtime win. Rookie Alex MacLeod netted two goals for South Carolina. The Rays responded on Saturday with a 3-1 triumph. Forward Phil Mangan pitched in two assists and netminder Ryan Zapolski registered 42 saves.
The weekend wrapped up Sunday afternoon with the Stingrays picking up their seventh shutout of the season and second over Orlando, 3-0. Defenseman Luka Vidmar (three assists) and forward Robby Dee (two goals, one assist) each recorded three-point games and Zapolski grabbed his ECHL-leading fifth shutout, stopping all 15 Solar Bears shots. Bishop earned a goal and an assist to push his personal point streak to six games (four goals, five assists) and lead the ECHL's Eastern Conference with 24 goals. The Stingrays finished the season series against Orlando with a 5-1-1-1 record.

Taking the Lead
The Stingrays are fourth in the South Division with 61 points and seventh overall in the Eastern Conference.
Forward Hunter Bishop is tied for 13 in the ECHL with 49 points (24 goals, 25 assists) and leads the Eastern Conference in goals. Bishop is currently on a six-game point streak (four goals, five assists).
Goaltender Ryan Zapolski is first in the ECHL with a 1.82 goals-against average, a .934 save percentage and five shutouts.
