Checkers End Road Trip with 5-4 OT Win

March 7, 2026 - ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Sandis Vilmanis scored twice, including the game-winning goal in overtime, as the Charlotte Checkers (33-18-5-0) beat the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (24-25-3-3) by a score of 5-4 on Saturday night at PPL Center. Vilmanis broke the ice in his first shift after being assigned by the Florida Panthers this morning, firing home his ninth goal of the season at 1:13. Jack Devine tallied at 5:35, scooping a rebound past Phantoms goaltender Carson Bjarnason. Ben Steeves and Brett Chorske assisted on Devine's 14th goal... Full Story

Panthers Assign Vilmanis and Bjornfot to Checkers, Recall Kunin

March 7, 2026 - The Florida Panthers have assigned forward Sandis Vilmanis and defenseman Tobias Bjornfot to the Checkers. Forward Luke Kunin has been recalled to the Panthers. Vilmanis, 22, joined the Panthers on January 10, appearing in 19 games with Florida, posting five points (three goals, two assists). In 31 games with the Checkers this season, Vilmanis has scored eight goals and added 11 assists. Checkers Top Phantoms 5-3

March 6, 2026 - ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Kirill Gerasimyuk recorded a season-high 33 saves in a 5-3 victory for the Charlotte Checkers (32-18-5-0) over the Lehigh Valley Phantoms (25-24-2-3) on Friday night at PPL Center. Nolan Foote scored for the third straight game, giving the Checkers a 1-0 lead 10:22 into the first period. Jack Studnicka and Mike Benning recorded assists on Foote's 14th goal of the season.
