Raptors 905 Announces NBA D-League Draft Results, Training Camp

Raptors 905, the NBA Development League affiliate of the Toronto Raptors, acquired six players via the 2015 NBA D-League Draft on Saturday, including guard Mike Anderson from the Washington Huskies with its first-round pick.

Anderson, 6-4, 205-pounds, recently completed his senior year with Washington. In 63 career games with the Huskies, he averaged 6.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists.

Raptors 905 used its second-round pick to select Jay Harris from Illinois-Chicago. Harris, 23, recently completed his fourth season with the Flames. In 117 career games, the 6-1, 170-pound guard averaged 25.5 minutes, 9.6 points, 2.5 assists and 2.2 rebounds.

Raptors 905 rounded out its inaugural draft by selecting Kourtney Roberson (6-9, 274-pound forward, Texas A&M), Melvin Johnson (6-6, 168-pound guard, Reno Bighorns), John Puk (6-10, 235-pound centre, Durham Wildcats) and Canadian Shaquille Keith (6-5, 200-pound forward, Kilgore College). Keith, a Brampton native, played collegiately at Kilgore College and Cape Breton University.

DRAFT DAY TRADES

Raptors 905 General Manager Dan Tolzman completed three trades leading up to the draft involving draft picks and returning player rights:

- In a transaction with the Maine Red Claws, Raptors 905 acquired Maine's own original 2015 first-round pick (19th overall) and the Westchester Knicks' 2015 second-round pick (21st overall) for Raptors 905's own original 2015 first-round pick (11th overall) and the returning player rights to guard Nolan Smith.

- In a trade with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, Raptors 905 acquired the Iowa Energy's 2015 third-round pick in exchange for Raptors 905's own 2016 third-round pick.

- In a deal with the Santa Cruz Warriors, Raptors 905 received Santa Cruz's own original 2016 third-round pick and the returning player rights to forward Ronald Roberts in exchange for Raptors 905's own original 2015 second-round pick, own original 2016 first-round pick and the returning player rights to forward Kevin Jones. Roberts, who attended Toronto Raptors' 2015 training camp, will not attend Raptors 905 training camp, but is expected to join the team at a later date.

In addition to these trades, Raptors 905 announced on Friday it acquired the returning player rights to Canadian centre Sim Bhullar from the Reno Bighorns in exchange for the returning player rights to guard Ricky Ledo.

Also on Friday, Raptors 905 announced it acquired the Bakersfield Jam's own original 2016 third-round pick in the NBA D-League Draft in exchange for the returning player rights to forward Earl Clark.

THREE AFFILIATE PLAYERS ACQUIRED

Raptors 905 announced Saturday it has acquired guard Shannon Scott, forward Axel Toupane (too-PON) and forward Michale (Michael) Kyser as affiliate players. They are expected to join Raptors 905 for training camp.

Toupane, 23, participated with the Raptors' entry in NBA Summer League 2015, averaging 4.3 points, 1.7 rebounds and 11.0 minutes in three contests. He then appeared in two preseason games with the Raptors collecting two rebounds in 21 minutes. The Mulhouse, France native played with Strasbourg of the French ProA League from 2011-15. In 2014-15 with Strasbourg, the 6-7, 197-pound forward averaged 7.5 points, 2.5 rebounds and 18.4 minutes in 42 games.

Scott, 22, is a 2015 graduate of Ohio State. In four years with the Buckeyes (2011-15), the Alpharetta, Ga. native averaged 5.5 points, 3.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 22.1 minutes in 143 games. The 6-1, 185-pound guard ranks second all-time in school history with 211 steals. In six games with the San Antonio Spurs' entry in NBA Summer League 2015 in Las Vegas, Scott averaged 6.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 23.5 minutes to help San Antonio claim the championship. Scott attended training camp with the Raptors and appeared in two preseason games totaling two points, four rebounds, two assists and 16 minutes.

Kyser, 23, is a 2015 graduate of Louisiana Tech. In four years with the Bulldogs (2011-15), the Victoria, Texas native averaged 6.2 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 21.3 minutes in 139 career contests. The 6-9, 205-pound forward finished his collegiate career as the school's all-time leader in blocked shots with 363, the most by any collegiate player over the past four years. In four games with the Raptors in the NBA Summer League 2015, Kyser averaged 3.5 points, 4.0 rebounds and 14.6 minutes. He attended training camp with the Raptors and collected two rebounds in five minutes of action.

NBA teams can designate up to four players that were waived during training camp as "affiliate players," meaning those players will join that team's NBA D-League affiliate, should the players choose to sign into an NBA D-League contract.

Raptors 905 training camp begins on Monday, November 2 in Mississauga. Media day is set for Wednesday, November 4 at Hershey Centre. Raptors 905 begins its 2015 preseason schedule on Thursday, November 5, when the team visits the Windsor Express (National Basketball League of Canada) at WFCU Centre in Windsor, Ontario at 7:30 p.m. The first home preseason contest is scheduled for Sunday, November 8 when Raptors 905 hosts the Erie BayHawks at Hershey Centre in Mississauga at 2 p.m. Raptors 905 wraps up its preseason on Monday, November 9 with a special season seat holder and mini pack customer only game at the Hershey Centre SportsZone practice court against the London Lightning (NBL Canada) at 7:30 p.m.
