Bakersfield Jam Acquire Six Players in 2015 NBA D-League Draft

BAKERSFIELD, October 31, 2015 - The Bakersfield Jam acquired six players in Saturday's NBA D-League Draft, including Kevin Young with the 17th overall pick. Additionally, the Jam selected Karrington Ward (No. 20), John Dickson (No. 55), Javier Carter (No. 61), Jordan Downing (No. 74), and Reggis Onwukamuche (No. 101).

After the draft, the Jam completed a three-team trade with the Maine Red Claws and Texas Legends. The Jam acquired the player rights of Askia Booker (11th overall pick) from the Red Claws, in exchange for Bakersfield's 2015 first round pick Kevin Young (17th overall) and second round pick Karrington Ward (20th overall). The Jam also received Texas' own original 2016 8th round pick.

Booker (6-2, 175, Colorado) most recently had a brief stint playing in Greece for the Serfa Arkadikos. Prior to that, he played with the Philadelphia 76ers at the 2015 NBA Summer League and averaged 5.3 points, 1.5 assists and 1.3 rebounds in four games.

A Los Angeles native, Booker played collegiately at Colorado for four years (2011-2015). As a senior he posted averages of 17.2 points, 3.2 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.4 steals in 30.2 minutes per contest, earning him a selection to the All-Pac-12 Second Team.

Dickson (6-6, 200, Sacramento State) has played overseas the last couple of seasons with stops in Australia, Colombia and Chile. In four years at Sacramento State (2009-2013), he played a total of 115 games and averaged 11.4 points and 4.4 rebounds in 25.5 minutes.

Carter (6-7, 212, South Alabama) last season played in France and in Spain that year before that. He played college basketball at South Alabama and in 117 games he posted averages of 5.6 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 19.6 minutes.

Downing (6-5, 205, Presbyterian) played one year at Davidson before transferring to Presbyterian. He played in 92 games during his three year collegiate career at Presbyterian, averaging 16.7 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.4 assists in 34.7 minutes.

Onwukamuche (6-9, 225, Prairie View A&M) played two years at Prairie View A&M (2013-2015) and averaged 3.9 points, 3.4 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 17.6 minutes per contest.

Bakersfield's 2015-16 season begins on Friday, November 13 when they travel to Santa Cruz for a match against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. PT.
