Falu, Sierra Homer as Chiefs Top Knights

Charlotte, NC - The Syracuse Chiefs beat the Charlotte Knights, 7-0, Wednesday night at BB&T Ballpark in Uptown Charlotte. Irving Falu and Moises Sierra each homered as the Chiefs snapped their three-game losing streak.

Syracuse (27-29) started the scoring on Falu's second home run of the season on the second batter of the game against Jordan Stephens in the first inning. Falu's shot made it 1-0 Chiefs.

The Chiefs broke the game open in the third. Andrew Stevenson singled with one out and Falu walked. Jose Marmolejos followed with an RBI single to push the lead to two. Then after a flyout, Sierra belted his second home run as a Chief over the left-field fence. The three-run homer extend the lead to 5-0.

In the fourth, the Chiefs added two more runs. Chris Dominguez and Tuffy Gosewisch started the inning with back-to-back doubles to score a sixth run of the game. Gosewisch then moved to third on a single and scored two batters later on a groundout to extend the Chiefs lead to seven.

Charlotte (25-33) was held in check all night by Austin Voth. Voth was brilliant, allowing just four hits in seven shutout innings. Voth did not walk a batter and struck out six.

The Chiefs will try and win the series Wednesday night at 7:04 p.m. LHP Tommy Milone is scheduled to start for Syrause opposite Donny Roach for Charlotte.
