South Carolina Stingrays News Release

North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (31-24-4-3) fell to the Fort Wayne Komets (29-28-1-2) 2-1 in overtime on Turn Back the Clock Night in front of 5,158 at the North Charleston Coliseum Saturday night.

Komets forward Jean-Michel Rizk kicked off the scoring early in the first period deflecting a shot from the right-wing point between the legs of Stingrays goaltender Ryan Zapolski (OTL, 29 saves on 31 shots) at 2:56. The Stingrays came close to knotting the contest on the power play later in the period when forward Chris Langkow received a backdoor pass at the near post, but was denied by the right pad of Komets netminder Jeff Deslauriers (W, 25 saves on 26 shots).

Stingrays forward Patrick Gaul made it 1-1 at 5:22 of the second frame catching a pass from Langkow up the right wall and fired a wrist shot under the stick of Deslauriers for his third goal of the season.

For the second straight night, the contest moved into overtime where Komets defenseman Nick Schaus buried the game-winning goal with one minute left in the extra session. The Stingrays finished the game 0-for-3 on the power play while the Komets went 0-for-4.
