Jones Called up to AHL San Antonio, Lee Returns to AHL Portland

Forward Doug Jones was called up to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League while netminder Mike Lee has been re-assigned to the Portland Pirates of the AHL by the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League.

Jones has skated in 47 games with Gwinnett this year and earned 38 points (17 goals, 21 assists). Jones is currently third in rookie scoring in the ECHL. The rookie has scored three points in the last two games with Gwinnett.

In October, Jones was named the ECHL Rookie of the Month. He tallied 10 points (five goals, five assists) in eight games and had a +4. He had a six-game point streak January 4th - January 17th, and racked up 10 points. Jones has had 11 multiple point games this season.

Marietta, Georgia native played four seasons with Dartmouth College where he earned his degree in Economics. At Dartmouth, he earned 107 points in 127 games before being signed by Gwinnett following his senior season. Jones skated in five games with the Gladiators at the end of last season and earned four points (three goals, one assist).

Lee has been recalled to the Portland Pirates for the third time this season. He played in the ECHL All-Star game on January 23rd where he stopped 18 of 19 shots in the third period to help the All-Stars to a 7-3 win over the Colorado Eagles. He has notched a 2.13 goals against average to place him in second among goalies in the ECHL.

The rookie netminder led the Pirates to a 3-1 victory over the Manchester Monarchs on January 26th. In the game, he stopped 31 shots and posted a save percentage of 0.969. The win was his second victory with the Pirates this season. Lee has posted a 1.01 goals against average and a 0.967 save percentage in the AHL.

The Roseau, MN native has posted a record of 12-11-1-0 with the Gladiators. He has earned two shutouts and posted a 0.918 save percentage. He has been named ECHL goaltender of the week twice, once in October and the second two weeks later in November.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
