
Conacher Named the MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J - Former ECHL and current Tampa Bay Lightning forward Cory Conacher is The MeiGray Group ECHL Alumnus of the Month for January.
The leading distributor of game- worn hockey jerseys and "Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL," MeiGray sold more than 500 game-worn jerseys in 2011-12 and has sold more than 6,500 since it became "The Official Game-Worn Jersey Source of the ECHL" in 2002-03.
The 23-year-old scored nine points (3g-6a) and was a +5 in six games with the Lightning during the month. He tallied two points (1g-1a) in his NHL debut on Jan. 19 against Washington, and also had two points on Jan. 21 at the New York Islanders, Jan. 25 against Ottawa and Jan. 29 against Florida.
Conacher is tied for first among National Hockey League rookies with nine points and is third among first-year players with three goals. He began the season with Syracuse of the American Hockey League, where he registered 28 points (12g-16a) in 36 games.
A native of Burlington, Ontario, Conacher tallied seven points (5g-2a) in three games with the Cyclones in 2010-11 while adding one goal in two games with Rochester of the American Hockey League. Last season, he was named both Rookie of the Year and Most Valuable Player in the AHL after posting 80 points (39g-41a) in 75 regular-season games. He added 15 points (2g-13a) in 18 postseason contests, helping the Admirals to their first Calder Cup championship.
There have been 492 players who have played in the NHL after playing in the ECHL including two who have made their debut in 2012-13. The ECHL has had 300 players reach the NHL since 2002-03 when it changed its focus to become the primary developmental league for the NHL and the AHL. The ECHL had 97 players reach the NHL in its first 10 seasons and 215 in the first 15 years. There have been 236 ECHL players who have played their first game in the last eight seasons for an average of more than 29 per year.
