
Red Sox Prospect Jackie Bradley Jr. Joins Sea Dogs

Portland, Maine- The Boston Red Sox have promoted outfielder Jackie Bradley Jr. to the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs from the High-A Salem Red Sox. Sea Dogs' outfielder Juan Carlos Linares was promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket to make room for Bradley Jr. on the Sea Dogs' 25-man roster. Bradley Jr. will wear uniform #7.
Bradley Jr. joins the Sea Dogs from the High-A Salem Red Sox, after leading the team, as well as all Red Sox Minor Leaguers with a .359 batting average (84-for-234). Bradley was selected with the 40th overall pick (compensation for losing Adrian Beltre) in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft by the Red Sox, out of the University of South Carolina. The 22-year old outfielder is ranked as Boston's #10 prospect by Baseball America, and is also rated as the "Best Defensive Outfielder" in the system.
Bradley Jr. is ranked among minor league hitters in the following categories: first in on-base percentage (.480), tied for second in doubles (26), seventh in walks (52) and eighth in average (.359). He hit .382 with 21 walks, a .513 on-base percentage and 1.142 OPS to lead all Carolina League hitters in May and was honored as the Topps Carolina League Player of the Month for May.
In 67 games with Salem, Bradley Jr. led the team with 24 multi-hit games and 16 stolen bases. The Richmond, Virginia native led off and started in center field in all 67 games. Bradley had a career-high five hits on May 12th at Myrtle Beach.
Bradley Jr. represented Salem in the Carolina/California League All-Star game and went 0-for-5 with a run scored and a RBI in the midsummer classic on Tuesday night.
Linares ranked second in the Eastern League in hitting with a .333 average. He appeared in 58 games for the Sea Dogs with 8 home runs and 33 RBI. The 27 year-old ranked second in the league in on base percentage (.403) and fourth in slugging percentage (.538). He was named the Eastern League Player of the Week April 5th through 15th. The Cuba native was signed by the Red Sox as an international free agent on July 8, 2010.
