Middlebrooks Returns to Lead the Sea Dogs to 10-6 Win

Portland, Maine- Will Middlebrooks returned to the lineup from the disabled list Thursday night and led the Sea Dogs to a 10-6 victory over the first place New Hampshire Fisher Cats (46-31) with a 2-for-3 night with two RBI and two runs scored. It was the third straight win for the Sea Dogs who improve to 28-49.
Middlebrooks, who had been sidelined since June 11 with a right triceps strain, returned to the lineup and reached base four times. He doubled in the second and scored on an Oscar Tejeda RBI single as Portland took a 1-0 lead.
Mitch Dening blasted his third home run of the year and Middlebrooks plated runs with a single in the third as Portland took a 4-0 lead. Middlebrooks also stole a base.
Stephen Fife surrendered a solo home run to Anthony Gose and three run homer to Mark Sobolewski in the fourth as the Fisher Cats tied the game at four.
Tim Federowicz, 3-for-4, broke the tie with a two run double off the Maine Monster in the fifth. Reynaldo Rodriguez added a RBI double and Tejeda his second RBI single of the game to give the Sea Dogs a few insurance runs as they extended the lead to 8-4.
Ryan Khoury added a RBI triple in the eighth and scored on a Chih-Hsien Chiang single to cap the scoring.
The Eastern League All-Star, Fife, earned his ninth win of the season, tying him with Harrisburg's Brad Peacock for the Eastern League lead. Fife improved to 9-3 tossing six innings and allowing four runs on six hits.
Charle Rosario made his Double-A debut in relief of Fife and allowed just an unearned run in two innings of work notching three strikeouts.
Robert Ray (0-2) suffered the loss for New Hampshire yielding seven runs on seven hits in 4.1 innings of work.
The two clubs continue the series Friday night at 7:00 at Hadlock Field. Right-handed pitcher Stolmy Pimentel (0-8, 9.20) will start for Portland. New Hampshire will counter with righty Joel Carreno (6-5, 3.33). The first 1,500 fans to enter the ballpark will receive a 2011 team baseball card set, courtesy of Wendy's. The Sea Dogs will also welcome the seven millionth fan in franchise history Friday night.
