Akron RubberDucks News Release

AKRON, OH - The Eastern League has announced that three Akron Aeros have been selected to take part in the 2011 Eastern League All-Star Game on Wednesday, July 13 in Manchester, NH. Right-handed pitcher Austin Adams, catcher Chun Chen, and shortstop Juan Diaz will represent the Aeros on the Western Division's all-star roster.

Adams, a 24-year old fifth round selection by the Cleveland Indians in the June, 2009 draft, currently ranks sixth in the Eastern League in strikeouts (78), tied for fifth in wins (5), and tied for second in games started (15). During the month of May, Adams also had the fourth best ERA (1.78) among all Eastern League pitchers.

Chen is currently tied for eighth in the Eastern League for home runs (8), and his 37 RBI puts him in the top 15 in the league in that category. The 22-year old Taiwanese native was acquired by the Cleveland Indians as a minor league free agent in 2007.

Diaz, a 22-year old from the Dominican Republic, is tied for fifth in the Eastern League with 3 triples, and currently leads the Aeros in hits (76), runs (38), and total bases (110). He was acquired by the Indians organization as part of a trade with the Seattle Mariners in 2007.
