Arnesen Leads Senators to 6-0 Shutout Over New Britain

In front of a sold out crowd in New Britain on Thursday night, Erik Arnesen stole the show leading the Senators to a 6-0 win over the New Britain Rock Cats. With the win, Harrisburg is now 45-32, 13 games over .500 for the first time this season and New Britain falls to 41-35.

Arnesen pitched six shutout innings, allowing four hits and a walk and striking out five. In his two starts since returning from Syracuse he has pitched 13 innings and hasn't allowed an earned run. He was named an Eastern League All-Star yesterday.

The Sens scored three in the first when the Rock Cats starter Brett Jacobson struggled with the strike zone. In the first, the Sens had a hit batter, three walks, and a big two-run single off the bat of Chris Rahl. In the second, Bill Rhinehart hit his 13th home run on the season, a solo shot, giving the Sens a 4-0 lead. Harrisburg tacked on runs in the 8th and 9th innings.

Rahl had three hits in the game, including a triple, and Rhinehart chipped in with two. The shutout is the 8th this year for the Senators pitching staff which is second in league.

Game two of the series is Friday night at 7:05 p.m. with RH Shairon Martis on the mound for the Senators. The game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and on your ipad or iphone beginning at 6:50 p.m.
