Brackman Deals in Shutout Win

Trenton, NJ - A four-run first inning along with a dominate outing from RHP Andrew Brackman lifted Trenton to a 6-0 win over New Britain on Monday night at Waterfront Park. Trenton (61-41) collected 12 hits, including a two-run double from Brandon Laird in the series opening win.

Andrew Brackman (2-5) tossed six and 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts and two hits allowed in his longest outing of the season. Dan Brewer ignited the scoring in the first with a two-run double and Marcos Vechionacci and Matt Cusick followed with RBI hits for a 4-0 Thunder lead.

Brackman left the game with one out and two runners on in the seventh inning after walking back-to-back batters. Wilkins Arias and Josh Schmidt each pitched to one batter to preserve a scoreless outing for Brackman. George Kontos tossed the final two innings in the Thunder's league-leading 11th shutout of the season.

Brandon Laird extended the lead to 6-0 with a two-run double in the seventh off RHP Loek Van Mil.
