Gerbe Reassigned To Pirates

Buffalo, NY - The Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League announced today that they have reassigned Nathan Gerbe to the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

The second-year forward played two games with the Sabres registering his first career NHL goal and adding an assist after being recalled on December 9th. He was injured in the second game and spent the majority of his time with the Sabres on injured reserve until being activated on Thursday.

Despite spending nearly a month in Buffalo, Gerbe, who was selected as a starter for PlanetUSA for the 2010 Time Warner Cable All-Star Classic being held January 18-19th in Portland, still stands second in Pirates scoring with five goals and 15 assists for 20 points in 23 games.

The 22 year-old Oxford, Michigan native is scheduled to be in the line-up tonight when the Pirates travel to Manchester to face the Monarchs at 7 p.m.

The Pirates head onto the road for their next five games beginning Saturday in Manchester against the Monarchs at 7 p.m. Sunday the Pirates are in Providence to meet the Bruins at 4:05 p.m. Both games can be heard live on News Talk WLOB 95.5 FM and on-line at www.portlandpirates.com beginning with the pre-game show 15 minutes prior to the opening face off.

The next Pirates home game will be played Tuesday, January 12th when the Lowell Devils visit the CCCC on Two for Tuesday. Fans can purchase two tickets for only $22.
