Portland, Maine- Portland Sea Dogs' catcher Mark Wagner has been activated from the disabled list. Catcher John Otness has been transferred to Triple-A Pawtucket.

Wagner, 24 years-old, has been sidelined since April 27th with a hamstring strain. Wagner has appeared in 13 games for the Sea Dogs this season hitting .267 with two home runs and six RBI. He is rated by Baseball America as the "Best Defensive Catcher" in the Red Sox farm system. He has thrown out 8 of 11 base stealers in 2009, tops in the Eastern League. Wagner was selected by the Red Sox in the ninth round of the 2005 First-Year Player Draft.

Otness, 27 years-old, joined the Sea Dogs on April 27th from Extended Spring Training. He has appeared in seven games for the Sea Dogs this season hitting .185 (5-for-27) with 3 RBI. This will be his first opportunity at the Triple-A level. Otness has spent the last two seasons in Portland. Last season with the Sea Dogs he hit .263 with two home runs, and 33 RBI in 69 games. Otness was signed by the Red Sox as a non-drafted free agent on June 18, 2004.

The Portland Sea Dogs return to Hadlock Field on Tuesday, May 19th for a seven game homestand against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Connecticut Defenders.
