ALTOONA, PA - Jeanmar Gomez had another great start for Akron silencing the Curve bats and their three game win streak with Akron besting the Curve 7-0 Thursday night at Blair County Ballpark.

Gomez (3-0) had his longest start of the season pitching eight innings giving up four hits and striking out eight without walking a batter.

Niuman Romero drove in the first run of the game on a fielder's choice in the second inning. Matt McBride slapped another RBI single to right to score Jared Goedert to put Akron up 2-0. The Aeros added two more runs in the fifth scoring one run on a throwing error and then another on a Jerad Head single. Akron would add two more runs in the eighth

Kyle Bloom (0-1) picked up the loss for Altoona. Bloom pitched four innings allowing four runs on five hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

Altoona (11-21) looks to even the series Friday night against Akron (24-7). Altoona will put right hander Brad Lincoln (0-3, 3.23) on the mound and southpaw Chuck Lofgren (2-0, 1.33) will get the start for Akron. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m. with radio coverage starting at 6:05 on ESPN Radio 1430, WVAM and the Curve Radio Network.
