Kane County Cougars News Release

GENEVA, IL - The Kane County Cougars, in conjunction with the Oakland Athletics, have announced the first roster moves of the young season. Right-hander Chris Farley has been promoted to the Stockton Ports in the California League and Leonardo Espinal has been activated from the disabled list for tonight's game in Peoria, IL against the Chiefs.

Farley appeared in two of the first seven games for the Cougars, allowing just one hit and no runs in four innings of work. Chris was part of the Cougar bullpen which has collectively posted a 4-0 record and 0.35 ERA over 26 innings. Originally drafted by the Red Sox in the 14th round of the 2001 draft, Farley pitched last season in the Yankees system before being signed by Oakland.

Filling the spot vacated by Farley, Leonardo Espinal has been added to the Cougars active roster after starting the season on the disabled list. Another right-hander, Espinal was the closer for the short-season Vancouver Canadians in 2007. Leonardo appeared in 20 games for the Canadians, picking up 12 saves.

The Cougars return home from Peoria on Monday for a three-game set against the South Bend Silver Hawks, an Arizona Diamondbacks affiliate. Tickets for all three games are available by visiting www.kccougars.com or calling the box office at (630) 232-8811.
