Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
The River Bandits are Back with Great New Promotions!
The first four games of the 2008 season were a blast, with warm weather Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. We are off to a great start for the 2008 season, and we want to thank you for your support. We had a terrific turn out for Saturday's Lose Your Blues Night, collecting barrels full of old Swing burnt orange and light blue merchandise that we will be donating to Salvation Army chapters right here in our area.
Friday, Don Rivera won a brand new refrigerator courtesy of Home Depot! Rather than just giving away magnet schedules, like the old River Bandits and Swing, we decided to give away a refrigerator to go with it. After the game everybody was treated to a fireworks display presented by KWQC.
River Bandits Return with a Win!
The Quad Cities River Bandits made their triumphant return to Davenport in victorious fashion on Friday night, snapping a six-year Opening Day losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in front of an exhilarated crowd of 2,610 at Modern Woodmen Park.
Game Schedule and Promotions!
Friday, April 11th: Firework Friday!/Renew Your Vows Night!
The River Bandits are inviting all married couples to come on the field before the game to renew their wedding vows! Plus, after the game, enjoy a spectacular fireworks show from J&M Displays presented by KWQC.

These joyful ambassadors will stilt walk, juggle, and clown their way into the hearts of young and old alike. You can win promotional items....or even tickets to their show! Once inside the gates, kids can enjoy clowns, face painting, player autographs, the opportunity to run the bases, and much more!! Make sure you join us for what is sure to be one of the most memorable nights of the year!
Huge New Signs!
On the Iowa Side:
Change is in the air! And keeping with the theme, we have made some very visible additions to Modern Woodmen Park. Adorning the side of the stadium, facing west towards down town Davenport's River Drive, is a brand new, back lit, Modern Woodmen Park sign displaying the new name of the ball park and adding a bright, bold, burst of color to the stadium exterior.
Accross the River to Illinois:
As the team of the "Quad Cities," we wanted to make sure fans on the Illinois side see our signs as well. So we hung one of the largest billboards in the Quad Cities on the back of the batters' eye at Modern Woodmen Park. The banner, designed by Victory Enterprises and installed by Lange Sign Company, features the River Bandits logo, the Modern Woodmen Park logo, and the team's 2008 slogan, "You Gotta See the Show." The new banner at Modern Woodmen Park is a staggering 80' X 20' and according to Victory Enterprises took and astounding 48 hours to print! Facing outward across the Mississippi River into Illinois, the banner is one of the largest of its kind in the Quad Cities.
"We are very excited about this opportunity to spread our message to the Illinois side," said team Owner Dave Heller. "Doing things bigger and better is what we are known for and the size and design of this banner is a perfect example of how we are changing the face of baseball here in the Quad Cities."
Genesis Healthy Kid Zone!
We are moving back the fences to incorporate the kids' baseball diamond inside the park for children to enjoy throughout the game without having to leave the stadium. Moving back the fences will also create more room for the four brand new inflatables, and make room for the soon-to-come, Hot Tub and Barbecue Pit!
Feature Player!
Our featured player for the week is short stop, Pete Kozma. The first round, 18th overall selection by the St. Louis Cardinals joins us by way of Owasso, Oklahoma. Kozma was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 11th 1988. Join us at Modern Woodmen Park on Friday and personally wish Kozma a Happy Birthday!
