Beloit Sky Carp News Release

The Peoria Chiefs had a late rally in the bottom of the ninth against the Snappers to pick up a win in the final game of the four-game series. Beloit reliever Blair Erickson allowed four runs in the bottom of the ninth as the Chiefs knocked off the Snappers 6-5.

The Snappers struck early in the top of the first inning on a Deibinson Romero sacrifice fly to right. Romero's sac fly drove home Steve Singleton, who earlier singled, from third. Steve's run put the Snappers ahead early 1-0.

After the Chiefs scored one of their own in the bottom of the second, Beloit jumped back ahead in the top of the fourth inning. Ramon Santana scored on an error from Peoria second baseman Nate Samson. Samson booted a ball hit by catcher Jair Fernandez and allowed Beloit to jump back ahead 2-1.

The Snappers piled on three more runs in the seventh and eighth innings. The outburst was highlighted by a Steve Singleton two-run single to right in the top of the seventh. The three runs gave the Snappers a 5-1 lead heading into the bottom of the ninth.

After a Peoria run in the bottom of the eighth, the game entered the ninth a 5-2 Beloit lead. The Chiefs would end up claiming the victory, however, as they scored four in the bottom of the ninth to seal the deal. Back-to-back home runs from Peoria's Marquez Smith and Josh Donaldson ended the last game of the four-game series.
