Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, picked up four points in six games last week as they drive towards securing a Kelly Cup playoff berth. Entering the week, the club has 19 games remaining in the regular season, all against North Division foes.

Tuesday, February 19th - vs. TRENTON (6-2 W) Att: 3,040 Shots: 34-32 ELM PP: 1/10 PK: 10/10
The Jackals snapped a season-high five-game losing streak in comeback fashion. After the Devils struck twice in sixty-two seconds to take a 2-1 lead after one period, Elmira received second period goals from BENOIT DOUCET (16th), CHAZ JOHNSON (18th, GWG) and FRANK LITTLEJOHN (19th) to turn the game around and hand Trenton its ninth consecutive defeat. DOUCET later added some third period insurance with his second of the night and 17th of the year. ERVINS MUSTUKOVS made his Jackals debut in net and came up with 30 saves for the win.
Wednesday, February 20th - @ READING (2-3 L ot) Att: 4,871 Shots: 32-20 REA PP: 1/2 PK: 5/6
Held to a season-low 20 shots on goal, the Jackals carried a 2-1 lead for just under eight minutes in the third period until the Royals tied the game with 6:30 left in regulation and DANY ROUSSIN won it with 48.5 second left in overtime. It was the third overtime tilt in eight meetings (2-1 REA) between the clubs that look destined to meet in the first round of the playoffs. PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT (21st) and LUKE FULGHUM (14th) scored for the Jackals.
Friday, February 22nd - @ WHEELING (3-4 L) Att: 3,115 Shots: 32-28 ELM PP: 2/6 PK: 5/5
Elmira surrendered two shorthanded goals in a game for the second time in a week's span, but it was JUSTIN CHWEDORUK's bank shot goal out of the right wing corner that sank the Jackals with fifty-one seconds left in the game. BENOIT DOUCET scored twice (18th/19th) while PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT bumped his team-leading total to 22 with a third period power play strike.
Saturday, February 23rd - @ CINCINNATI (4-5 L so) Att: 5,178 Shots: 39-34 CIN PP: 3/6 PK: 7/10
The opening forty minutes saw each side strike for three power play goals and a shorthanded marker to leave things knotted at 4-4 before a shootout was need to snap the deadlock. Elmira squandered a 2-0 lead after one as the Cyclones converted on three 5-on-3 man advantages in a 63-second span to grab a 3-2 lead. CHAZ JOHNSON tied the game on the power play (19th) at 9:45 of the second period before giving Elmira its final lead of the game with a shorthanded tally (20th) 1:01 later. THOMAS BEAUREGARD registered the final regulation goal, shorthanded at 17:22 of the middle frame, before he cashed in on the first round of the shootout to give Cincinnati its ECHL record setting 15th consecutive win.

This two-game set resumes a 10-game season series that has seen the clubs meet just four times so far this season with Elmira winning three games. The Jackals took the only First Arena meeting all the way back on November 9th 2-0, a 27-save shutout pitched by JOEL MARTIN. Elmira had their three-game winning streak in the season series broken in the last get-together January 5th in Dayton 3-1.

It's the final meeting of the season at First Arena in the season series that the Jackals lead 3-2-0-1. The two remaining games will take place at the Cambria County War Memorial March 8th and 15th. Elmira will be looking to bounce back from allowing a season-high in goals in the last game between the clubs, a 9-3 loss at Johnstown February 8th.

Jackals Bites: Tuesday's win over Trenton snapped a season-high five-game losing streak...The Jackals allowed two shorthanded goals in one game (a season-high) for the second time in seven days Friday at Wheeling...Friday's loss at Wheeling was the first of the season in regulation by Elmira when the Jackals had led after one period (15-0-2-0 entering the contest)...All eight regulation goals in Saturday's shootout loss in Cincinnati came via specials teams with each side netting three power play goals and a shorthanded tally. ..The three power play goals scored by Cincinnati came on three successive 5-on-3 man advantages in a 63-second time span, the three fastest goals allowed by the Jackals this year...The Jackals have eight power play goals in their last five games after suffering through a 1x21 stretch in the previous five-game stretch...Elmira has given up a league-high 16 shorthanded goals...BENOIT DOUCET and CHAZ JOHNSON became the Jackals' second and third Elmira skaters (PIERRE-LUC FAUBERT 22) to hit the 20-goal plateau this year when they scored in Saturday's game...The line of DOUCET, FAUBERT, and JOHNSON scored 10 of the team's 15 goals in Elmira's four games last week...ERVINS MUSTUKOVS appeared in his first three games with the Jackals last week, going 1-0-1-1, with a 2.85 goals against average and a .912 save percentage.
