MWL1 Fort Wayne TinCaps

Zoo Night at Parkview Field Set for August 29

August 26, 2015 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release

Two of Fort Wayne's top family attractions - the Fort Wayne TinCaps and the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo - will team up to celebrate "Zoo Night at the TinCaps" on Saturday, August 29 at 7:05 p.m.

In honor of the zoo's 50th Birthday season, TinCaps jerseys will feature the face of Bill the lion, one of the zoo's most popular residents. During the game, the game-worn jerseys will be auctioned to the highest bidders, with the auction proceeds benefitting the zoo. Fans at the game or at home can bid by visiting tincapsjersey.com. Bidding closes at the end of the 6th inning.

The zoo's mascot, modeled after Bill the lion, will throw out the game's ceremonial first pitch at 6:30 p.m. Baseball fans can meet some friendly zoo animals from 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. along Parkview Field's 3rd base concourse. The evening will be capped off with a spectacular post-game fireworks show.

Fans can get a sneak preview of the "Bill the lion" jerseys at 9:30 a.m. Saturday when TinCaps players T.J. Weir and Taylor Cox (accompanied by Johnny, the TinCaps' mascot) feed the penguins at the Fort Wayne Children's Zoo.

From 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., Weir and Cox will sign autographs for fans at the zoo's Little Poof Plaza, near the Z.O.&O. Railroad Station. Johnny will also be available to meet zoo guests and pose for photos! Fans can also enter a drawing to win Fort Wayne Children's Zoo/TinCaps ticket package.
