(Eastlake, OH) -The Lake County Captains worked overtime on Wednesday afternoon. The Captains finished Tuesday night's suspended game, falling 1-0. In the regularly scheduled game the Captains would pull away late to beat the Dayton Dragons 9-2 to avoid a three game sweep.

In the first game the Dragons and Captains went head to head in a classic pitcher's duel. Captains' starter Anderson Polanco and Dragon's starter Tyler Mahle would toss five scoreless innings each before the Dragons would get on the board.

In the top of the sixth inning Luis Gonzalez led off with a double. With two outs he would score the games lone run on an RBI single from Avain Rachal. After the final out of the inning was made the rain started and did not stop, forcing the suspension of the game.

The Captains would strike first in the bottom of the fourth inning. Anthony Santander started the inning by launching his eighth homerun of the season. The solo homerun put the Captains up 1-0. Yonathan Mendoza would also walk in the inning and eventually came around to score on an RBI single by Yu-Cheng Chang.

After the Dragons got a run in the top of the sixth inning, the Captains answered back in the bottom of the seventh. Francisco Mejia started the inning with a single and moved to third on Chang's ground rule double. Mejia would score on a Grant Fink RBI sacrifice fly. Chang then scored on a Silento Sayles sacrifice bunt to push the score out to 4-1.

Dayton would again cut the lead in half in the top of the eighth inning with a run. The Captains then blew the game open with a five run eighth inning as they sent ten batters to the plate. Mendoza delivered an RBI single while Mejia drew a bases loaded walk. Chang drove in two more runs with a two run single. And Greg Allen would drive in a run on an RBI fielder's choice.
