Zephyrs Fall in Memphis 7-5

MEMPHIS, Tennessee - The Memphis Redbirds scored five first inning runs added two more runs in the second and held on to a 7-5 win over the New Orleans Zephyrs. Tom Koehler allowed five runs on four hits in the first inning, he had a pair of balks and the Z's mishandled a run down. Amaury Cazana doubled home two more runs in the second inning for the Redbirds. The Zephyrs scored a single run in five innings. The Z's got three solo home runs, Matt Dominguez, Cole Armstrong, and Kevin Mattison. New Orleans out hit Memphis 12-9, and the Zephyrs left 13 men on base. Shelby Miller pitched five innings and earned his first career Triple A win. Koehler dropped his second game of the season. Eduardo Sanchez pitched the ninth inning and eraned his third save of the season. The first place Zephyrs are 10-4 on the season.

Game Notes - Luke Montz had his six game hit streak snapped, 0x5. The Z's are 5-1 this season against Memphis and prior to Wednesday's game had allowed five earned runs in 49 innings pitched.

Coming Up: The Zephyrs and Memphis Redbirds will play the third game of a four game set at 11:05AM. New Orleans will start RH J.D. Martin (0-1, 8.64) against Redbirds LH Nick Additon (0-0, 3.60). RADIO: WMTI 106.1 "The Ticket"
