Tucson Bats Quiet again in 2-0 Setback

One day after being held to only one run, the Tucson Padres were shut out in Colorado Springs Wednesday afternoon, 2-0. The Sky Sox struck four straight singles to start the fifth inning and scored twice for the only two runs of the game. It was the first Colorado Springs shutout win at Security Service Field since August 21, 2010.

The Padres had a walk and two hits in the seventh inning but could not score. Rocky Gale hit a single to left in the inning and Sawyer Carroll tried to score from second but was cut down by left fielder Hernan Iribarren. The Padres also picked up two hits and a walk in the fourth but were held scoreless in that frame.

Tucson's Daniel Robertson went 2-for-3 with a walk and Blake Tekotte collected a hit to push his hitting streak to a team-high 12 games. The Padres bullpen continued an excellent April, with Dale Thayer and Brad Boxberger pitching scoreless outings. Thayer has now pitched 7.1 innings this season and hasn't allowed a run. The Padres (3-11) have lost four consecutive games, while the Sky Sox (9-5) have won five in a row.
