Ynoa Promoted to Chicago, Danish Optioned to Charlotte

(UPTOWN CHARLOTTE, NC) - RHP Michael Ynoa, who has appeared in 18 games with the Charlotte Knights this season, was recalled by the Chicago White Sox today. Ynoa will take the roster spot of RHP Tyler Danish, who was optioned to Charlotte after Chicago's game last night.

Ynoa, a native of Puerto Plata, DR, is the 13th different player promoted to the Chicago White Sox this season from Charlotte. RHP Erik Johnson (April 19, May 5 & May 23), catcher Kevan Smith (April 24), RHP Miguel Gonzalez (April 25 & May 9), catcher Hector Sanchez (April 26), RHP Daniel Webb (April 27), infielder Carlos Sanchez (April 28), RHP Tommy Kahnle (April 29, May 5, May 23 & June 3), RHP Scott Carroll (May 6), LHP Matt Purke (May 13), outfielder J.B. Shuck (May 30), outfielder Jason Coats (June 4 & June 10), and shortstop Tim Anderson (June 10), are the others who have been promoted to the White Sox this year.

Overall this season, Ynoa is 1-3 with four saves and a 4.56 ERA in 18 games with the Charlotte Knights over 23.2 innings pitched. Ynoa, 24, appeared in three games with the Double-A Birmingham Barons earlier this year and did not allow a run in three innings pitched.

Danish, who entered the 2016 season ranked as the sixth best prospect in Chicago's system by Baseball America, compiled a 3-7 record with a 4.42 ERA in 75.1 innings pitched this season with Birmingham. In three appearances with the White Sox this year, the 21-year-old allowed two runs on six hits over 1.2 innings pitched. Danish was selected by the White Sox in the second round of the 2013 First-Year Player Draft.

The Knights and Tides will continue their three-game series tonight with a 7:05 p.m. game. Gates open at 6:00 p.m. and the first 2,000 fans will receive a Knights Beach Towel courtesy of Carolinas HealthCare System. Pro-wrestler Steve Corino of Ring of Honor and ECW fame, will be on hand to sign pre-game autographs and throw out a ceremonial first pitch. Pre-game radio coverage starts at 6:50 p.m. on ESPN Charlotte 730 AM and CharlotteKnights.com. The "Voice of the Charlotte Knights" Matt Swierad and Knights radio broadcaster Mike Pacheco will have the call for all of the action.
