The Lehigh Valley IronPigs will open a three-game set with the Gwinnett Braves on Tuesday night at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is slated for 7:05 p.m. The Pigs enter play at 34-29 on the year after taking two of three from Durham while Gwinnett sits at 30-34 and has won five in a row after completing a three-game sweep of Norfolk over the weekend.
RHP David Buchanan (3-4, 4.76) will be on the bump for the IronPigs in the series opener on Tuesday. Buchanan's last outing came in relief on Thursday at Gwinnett when he allowed one hit while fanning three over 2.2 IP.
RHP Joel De La Cruz (1-1, 5.73) gets the ball for the G-Braves opposite Buchanan. On Wednesday vs. the Pigs, De La Cruz gave up three hits to go along with a walk and three strikeouts over five shutout innings. The right-hander is 1-1 with a 4.21 ERA (25.1/12) over 6 G (4 GS) in his career against Lehigh Valley.
Pigs OF Cedric Hunter has hit safely in 19 of his last 23 contests. In that time, Hunter is hitting .337-4-19 (30-89, 4 2B, 9 R).
The first 1,500 fans 17 and under in attendance on Tuesday will receive an IronPigs soccer ball presented by UGI Utilities. Tuesday is also a TD Bank Dog Day and fans can purchase tickets for their four-legged companions for just $1 with 100% of the proceeds benefiting a local canine non-profit organization. Fans that are planning on bringing their canine must purchase a General Admission ticket and will have access to the Capital BlueCross Lawn seating area.
